A Final Parade and Prizes in Arendal

Posted on: 07.08.23

With the final days of The Tall Ships Races 2023 upon us, The Tall Ships fleet took part in a grand Crew Parade that attracted thousands of spectators to the streets of Arendal before the final Prize Giving Ceremony of the series…

Before the ceremony, the diverse, international group of trainees paraded through the centre of Arendal along a 1km route. Throughout the parade, the crews of the Tall Ships fleet gave onlookers a dazzling display of energy and vibrancy that has been a hallmark of 2023’s race series.

Following the parade, the crews gathered at the main stage for the final Prize Giving ceremony of the Tall Ships Races 2023. Race Director, Magda Makowska, presented the awards that celebrated the achievements made by the fleet in Race Three, as well as the final standings of the series overall.

Race Three and Overall Prizes

Due to the unforeseen weather conditions in Lerwick and during the race, the Race Committee made the exceptional decision to split the Race Three fleet into two divisions, the Race Three Sprint and the Race Three Endurance.

About The Tall Ships Races 2023

The Tall Ships Races 2023 will see the international fleet of Tall Ships and Small Ships return to Den Helder, Hartlepool, Fredrikstad, Lerwick and Arendal from 29 June to 6 August.

With four of the five Host Ports having already hosted the stunning Tall Ships fleet, we are excited to return to old friends and visit new frontiers for some exhilarating sailing, stunning cruises and celebrations across Northwest Europe.

As with every edition of The Tall Ships Races, the series will offer a range of sailing experiences for trainees and crews. The Race Committee will look at waypoint options to provide shorter and longer races for the fleet that will require a mixture of tactical skill and exhilarating speed to conquer.
