Sail Training International

Endorsed Events Scheme

Since the first Tall Ships Race in 1956, Tall Ships have continued to capture the interest and imagination of crowds around the word. The world famous Tall Ships Races, organised by Sail Training International, normally take place in Europe during the summer months and Tall Ships Regattas are also often organised at different times of the year in European waters and beyond.

Over the years, ports and cities have increasingly sought to attract the Tall Ships fleet and with more and more Tall Ships events taking place, the calendar for maritime festivals around the world is getting busier and busier.

The Sail Training International Endorsed Event Scheme is open to any port or city who would like their Tall Ships event to be associated with and supported by Sail Training International.

Benefits of the Sail Training International endorsement scheme

Requirements for endorsement

Whilst each event will be different, in order to qualify for endorsement the basic prerequisites include:

  • The dates of the proposed endorsed event are to be mutually agreed between the event organiser and Sail Training International in order to avoid any conflict with any event organised or endorsed by Sail Training International taking place in the same year
  • The endorsed event must offer the opportunity for the promotion of Sail Training and Sail Training International’s charitable values
  • Commitment on the part of the event organiser to fund a number of local young people to take part in the Tall Ships Races in the same year as the endorsed event
  • Recognition of the commercial value of a Sail Training International Endorsement through payment of an endorsed event fee
