A Coruna Celebrates with a Parade and Prizes

The second day of their stop in A Coruna saw the crews and trainees of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano celebrate with a vibrant Crew Parade through the city and celebrations at the Prize Giving Ceremony follow Race One.

Before the Parade, trainees took part in a number competitive sports activities and cultural activities, visiting local museums and galleries. Following this, prepared for the traditional Crew Parade which kicked off shortly after 1700 against a sun-drenched backdrop. The crews marched north-east from the muster point at the Jardín de La Rosaleda to the Main Stage in María Pita Square, providing an amazing spectacle for spectators lining the route.

Once at the main stage, it was time for the all important Prize Giving Ceremony…

The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano sees an international fleet of Tall Ships and Small Ships take in the Channel and Iberian Penninsula, visiting Falmouth (15-18 August), A Coruna (24-27 August), Lisbon (31 August -3 September), finishing in Cadiz (7-10 September)

The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano series celebrates the first circumnavigation of the world by Ferdinand Magellan and Sebastian Elcano over 500 years ago.  As with every edition of The Tall Ships Races, the series offers a range of sailing experiences for trainees and crews.
