Set A Course for New Adventures in 2022

With the sun finally setting on another year like no other, it’s the perfect time to unleash those bottled-up travel plans and start dreaming of an ocean adventure…

Following two years away for The Tall Ships Races, you can tick sailing on a Tall Ship off your bucket list with The Tall Ships Races 2022. With international travel back on the cards, we all have the chance to finally leave Netflix and the couch behind and step back out into the great outdoors. Every edition of The Tall Ships Races takes you to some amazing places and 2022 is no different as the races visit Esbjerg (Denmark), Harlingen (Netherlands), Antwerp (Belgium) and Aalborg (Denmark).

The event will mark a welcome return to all four Host Ports who have hosted a total of 16 Tall Ships Races and Regattas so far. The series will see the majestic Tall Ships sailing through the North Sea as part of an exhilarating first race. Following this you will be able to enjoy a stunning Cruise-in-Company leg taking the fleet south with some spectacular coastal sailing. The final race will take the fleet from Antwerp, back north through the North Sea for the final celebrations in Aalborg.

The Races

The Tall Ships Races 2022 sees the Tall Ships fleet return and experience the challenging conditions that the North Sea. The route will take the fleet on a technically challenging course from the wind farm capital of Denmark, Esbjerg, via a series of waypoints to Harlingen.

The coastline between Harlingen and Antwerp offers an ideal environment for vessels to explore on their way south to the Belgian metropolis during the Cruise-in-Company leg of the series. Throughout this voyage, the Tall Ships fleet will have the opportunity to take part in a non-competitive scenic cruise with the chance to enjoy invigorating sailing and amazing coastal scenery.

For the final race leg to Aalborg, the vessels will have a liberating run across towards the English coast and then up the North Sea to the Skagerrak. The route will provide the setting for a real head to head race course which should provide some exhilarating sailing.

The Fleet

As with every series of The Tall Ships Races, there are lots of choices when it comes to choosing your dream adventure at sea. You can enjoy the majestic drama of a Class A or B Tall Ship, with demanding and rewarding work aloft and on deck. Or, there’s the exhilaration of racing on board a smaller Class C or D vessel, bringing you closer to the elements and with a natural focus on your connection with the sea.

Did you know you can take part in this fantastic adventure at sea? Berths are still available for Race One, Race Two and the Cruise-in-Company leg. Just pick your dates and keep checking for vessel entries as they come in. If you see a vessel you like the look of, contact them directly for prices and to book your place.
