Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta Race 4, Report 1: Leaving Boston For a Great Canadian Adventure…

Posted on: 23.06.17

The incredible Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta fleet has now left Boston. Following a fantastic race start yesterday (Thursday 22 June), Race 4 from Boston up toward the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Canada, is underway.

Here’s the latest from Sail Training International Race Director Paul Bishop:

Blue Clipper (UK) has started a great race and is in first place overall on Corrected Time, followed by the new four-masted barque Union (Peru), who’s doing really well in her inaugural race. In third place, the winner of Race 3 up to Boston, Oosterschelde. The wind conditions are favourable from the south west, favouring the Class A ships. Then, leading Class C and D is Spaniel (Latvia), followed by Rona II (UK).

“The fleet has enjoyed ideal sailing conditions with a moderate breeze from the south west, and these favourable conditions are going to continue until Sunday, when it’s due to get a little bit lighter and slow the vessels down. Overall, the outlook looks favourable for the entire race, generally from a westerly direction, with light to moderate winds.”
Sail Training International Race Director Paul Bishop.
