The Tall Ships Races is set to return in July 2027 and Sail Training International is delighted to confirm the three event Host Ports of Bordeaux (8 – 11 July), Sines (16 – 19 July), and A Coruña (29 July – 1

Aug).

As with every edition of the world-famous race series, The Tall Ships Races 2027 will offer the perfect opportunity to experience the adventure of a lifetime as it brings together young people from around the world to embark on a voyage of challenge and self-discovery.

Tall Ships Races International Ltd.’s Chief Executive Officer, Alan James, welcomed the news of the confirmed Host Ports:

“We are excited to be able to confirm the Host Ports of The Tall Ships Races 2027, welcoming back A Coruña as one of our most experienced host ports, alongside Bordeaux and Sines, who, having previously hosted Tall Ships Regattas in 2027, will be first time hosts of The Tall Ships Races.”

“Each of the host cities will bring their own particular magic and national flavour to their in-port events and we are in no doubt that the fleet and their crews will be warmly welcomed and looked after. We are delighted that Bordeaux, A Coruña and Sines continue to be aligned with our core values of youth development, and international friendship and understanding and we look forward to working with them to deliver a fantastic race series in 2027.”

“Each edition of the event presents a truly unique opportunity for young people from around the world to do something amazing as they rise to challenges, overcome fears, build new friendships, and enjoy the adventure of a lifetime. We are sure that each Host Port will once again deliver some world-class celebrations to perfectly compliment this life-changing experience.”

“With three strong ports confirmed as host ports, we are confident that The Tall Ships Races 2027 will present an attractive race series to the tall ships fleet. We are still interested to hear from any other cities in the same sea area, who would be keen to discuss hosting The Tall Ships Races 2027 and join our confirmed host ports.”

BORDEAUX

Bordeaux is the first port of The tall Ships Races 2027. The city is located on a bend of the Garonne River, around 500 km south-west of Paris. Bordeaux lies close to the Atlantic coastline, in the north of the Aquitaine region. Bordeaux boasts richly preserved historical architecture, pristine pedestrianised boulevards, tramways, and reclaimed industrial docks. In 2007, half the city (18 sq km) was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site – the largest urban area to receive this accolade.

A CORUñA

Located in northern Spain, A Coruña is a busy, bustling port. It’s located on a promontory in the entrance of an estuary in a large gulf on the Atlantic Ocean. It’s the richest region and economic engine of Galicia – an autonomous community in north-west Spain.

SINES

The second port on the Races will be in Sines, a Portuguese Port City, located in the Setúbal disrtrict. With its beautiful scenery and cove beaches, Sines becomes a popular desitnation to visit during the summer, boasting for a busy race period.
