Following three days of fantastic maritime celebrations, The Tall Ships Races 2022 bid farewell to its second port stop today in Harlingen, the Netherlands…
Over the course of the celebrations, crews and spectators have been treated to an amazing programme of cultural entertainment – from live music on the main stage and dazzling laser-light shows, to shanty choirs and exhibitions. Marrying this with a stunning Sail In Parade, Crew Parade and Prize Giving Ceremony has made the second stop of series truly unforgettable.
Saying ‘Thank You’ with A Stunning Parade of Sail
Vessels began undocking at 13:00 local time and treated the city to an impressive Parade of Sail which saw the harbour lined with thousands of visitors wishing the Tall Ships well as they made their way to the Cruise-in-Company leg to Antwerp.
Looking Forward to Inclusive Antwerp
With the Belgian port city on the horizon, inclusivity becomes the theme as five young Disabled people who are members of the Belgian Unified Sailing team will join the Class A Tall Ship, Thalassa, as it sails from the Netherlands to Belgium on a scenic cruise along the North Sea coast.
The voyage has been made possible with support from the John E. Burnett Bursary, which was launched by Sail Training International in 2021 in memory of John Burnett. Before joining their ship, the trainees met Sail Training International Chair, Jonathan Cheshire, who wished them well on what is sure to be the adventure of a lifetime.
