RACE REPORT 1: Perfect Conditions for Race Start

Posted on: 11.09.16

“An impressive start under ideal conditions with a NE light to moderate breeze and blue skies,” was how Race Director Paul Bishop described the start of Race One, from Constanta to Novorossiysk. “Nadezhda (Russia) made a perfect start across the line, followed closely but in a more windward position by her sister ship, Mir (Russia).”

Line Order

Line order for the Class A vessels was as follows:

1st Nadezhda (Russia)

2nd Mir (Russia)

3rd Kruzenshtern (Russia)

4th Royal Helena (Bulgaria)

5th Kaliakra (Bulgaria)

6th Pogoria (Poland)

Classes B, C and D started together, in the following order:

1st Adornate (Romania)

2nd Akela (Russia)

3rd Vityaz (Russia)

4th Atyla (Vanuatu)

You can track the ships using the Yellow Brick (YB) tracking system, a device carried by each vessel with live tracking updated every 15 minutes.

“The Race Committee would like to thank the Romanian Navy for providing the tugs and crew for the start line. We also congratulate all vessels in the Regatta for their professional conduct at the start of the race. We wish them fair winds and look forward to seeing them in Novorossiysk,” said Race Chairman Robin
Snouck Hurgronje.
