Following a thrilling race from Esbjerg, Denmark, the Tall Ships Races 2022 began its second port stop today in Harlingen, the Netherlands…
Vessels began arriving at 11:00 local time on Thursday 14 July during a special Sail In Parade. Throughout the arrivals, crowds lined the harbour sides, giving the Tall Ships fleet a warm Dutch welcome.
Fresh from an exciting race from Esbjerg, the crews and trainees will be eager to sample the delights on offer in the beautiful Dutch port city.
Dressed to Impress
Harlingen once again transformed itself into a stunning backdrop for the Tall Ships fleet’s arrival and stay. Welcome flags and decorations lined the canals as the port embraced the spirit of international friendship and understanding.
A warm welcome for the fleet
Spectators and local residents were treated to an incredible Sail In parade from the Tall Ships fleet on the first day of celebrations. The fleet of Tall Ships, accompanied by a number of local ships, approached the Dutch harbour town in beautiful formation from across the Wadden Sea before docking in Harlingen.
AN ACTION PACKED FOUR DAYS OF ENTERTAINMENT
Accompanying the maritime celebrations in Harlingen is a packed programme of entertainment that will be held across the event site. Visitors will be able to enjoy live music, multimedia entertainment, traditional arts and crafts and much more.

Harligen is one of the oldest seaports in the Netherlands, and it’s the gateway to northern Holland from the North Sea. It’s is the homeport for sea-going trawlers and a large traditional sail charter fleet.

THE TALL SHIPS RACES 2022
The Tall Ships Races 2022 will see the international fleet of Tall Ships and Small Ships return to the North Sea. From 7 July-7 August, we will visit Esbjerg, Harlingen, Antwerp and Aalborg.
The event will mark a welcome return to all four Host Ports who have hosted a total of 16 Tall Ships Races and Regattas so far. The series will see the Tall Ships sailing from Esbjerg, Denmark, south through the North Sea to Harlingen, Netherlands, as part of an exhilarating Race One.
Following this they will enjoy a stunning Cruise-in-Company leg further south to Antwerp, Belgium, enjoying spectacular coastal sailing. Race Two will take the fleet from Antwerp, Belgium, back north through the North Sea to Aalborg, Denmark, for the final celebrations.
