Biography
Merisusi is a Swan 43 and was built in Pietarsaari, Finland in 1971 and is owned by the Finnish Sea Scout Troop “Auran Tahti Pojat” (ATP – which is one of the oldest scout troops and was established in 1917). She replaced the ATPs previous vessel and has been used for educational purposes ever since.
Merisusi can usually be seen in the Finnish archipelago, but voyages to harbours around the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland are also made each summer. Merisusi notches up a total of 4,000 nautical miles every year. All the scouts of ATP participate in sail training, but the biggest interest is found among teenagers.
Merisusi has entered the Tall Ships’ Races on several occasions when the event has been located in the Baltic.
