Biography
Sail Training yacht Asta, is a Morgan 54 (Marauder) class monohull sailboat with a Bermudan Sloop rig. Asta was constructed in 1971 for the German Naval Academy fleet. Her homeport is Flensburg, and she is owned by the German Navy. Designed and built by Charles Morgan, American sailboat racer and designer. He is best known as the founder of Morgan Yacht Corporation. Asta participated in the Columbus Regatta in 1992 which marked the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the New World.
She is being used as a training vessel for cadets mainly in the Baltic and North Sea.
