Record breaking day in Turku
All visitor records were broken in Turku yesterday when over 160,000 visitors came to see the fleet. From early in the morning until late into the evening the quaysides were full of people enjoying the sunshine, the views, the stalls, the live music, the restaurants and the crew parade.
After the excitement of the crew parade and prize giving yesterday, it was time for the crews to let their hair down. The crew party took place in a huge marquee on Varvintori Square. Bands played and the trainees danced the night away!
There will be much more for visitors to see today as the fleet make their final preparations and leave through the archipelago in the customary Parade of Sail. Undocking begins at 1400.
The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Race is organised by Sail Training International.
