Race Two, Report Two

After yesterday’s challenging start to Race Two, the fleet fell into two main groups – one which headed ESE towards Corsica and the second group following the rhumb line towards La Spezia.  

Mir (Russia) appears to be leading the more southerly group on the water, while Royal Helena  (Bulgaria) and Stella Polare (Italy) are leading the other group on the water.

On corrected time, positions are currently as follows:

Class A

1st  La Grace (Czech Republic)

2nd  Santa Eulalia  (Spain)

3rd  Alexander von Humboldt II (Germany)

Class B

1st  Johanna Lucretia (UK)

2nd  Pandora (Italy)

3rd  Far Barcelona (Spain)

Class C

1st  Galaxie  (Spain)

2nd Spirit of Oysterhaven  (Ireland)

3rd  Tartessos (Spain)

Class D

1st  Miles to go (Belgium)

2nd  Bellatrix (France)

3rd  Cybele (France)

The strong winds from yesterday have given way to much lighter winds which will continue to decrease over the next 36 hours, making it particularly tough for the square rigged vessels.
