Race report 4: Close racing for Class A’s
Paul Blshop, Race Director, Sail Training International said, “Despite a night of challenging racing the Class A’s have all maintained their top three leading positions on corrected time, but Mir (Russia) has taken the lead on the water. She is being chased hard by Stad Amsterdam (Netherlands) which is just six miles astern – but these positions could well change before the finish.
“The close racing conditions of last night have seen two UK vessels now taking second lead positions on corrected time – Morning Star of Revelation in Class B and Black Diamond of Durham in Class C.
“Gigi (Estonia) and Tomidi (Belgium) have overtaken Spaniel (Latvia) overnight and are now ahead on the water, ahead by 73 and 89 nautical miles respectively.
“The fresh north easterly winds are forecast to gradually decrease over the next 24 hours.”
Current positions by class are:
1 Kapitan Glowacki (Poland)
Class B
1 Colin Archer (Norway)
