Preparations underway for arrival of Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta fleet

The city and port of Klaipeda are busy preparing for the arrival of the Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta fleet, most of whom will be arriving over the course of the next 24 hours.  Seven vessels are already in port, including Lithuanian vessels Brabander and Lietuva, for whom Klaipeda is their home port.  Other early arrivals include: Johann Smidt (Germany) and Russian vessels Nadezhda, Elena, Variag and Bylina. 

The festival takes place between Thursday 18 August and Sunday 21 August, when the fleet depart in the traditional Parade of Sail and begin the first race of the Regatta, which is to Turku, Finland.
