Initiative Launched to Help Save Tall Ship Tenacious

A new initiative has been launched aiming to save one of the world’s most unique Tall Ships, purpose built to be sailed by disabled and able bodied crew alike…

Following the sad news at the end of 2023 that the Jubilee Sailing Trust – the organisation that owned and operated the Class A Tall Ship Tenacious – would be ceasing operations, a group of ex-crew members and long-term supporters have come together in an attempt to ensure the future of the ship.

The group, Save Tall Ship Tenacious, have joined together to raise awareness of the plight of the ship and are actively looking to secure funding that will allow Tenacious to continue delivering sail training experiences.

About Tenacious

Designed in 2000, the Class A ship was designed specifically to be sailed by disabled crew members with a range of special adaptations and equipment. Over two decades of sailing, Tenacious helped countless disabled crew members and trainees achieve more than they ever thought possible, enabling them to fully operate almost all aspects of the ship.

Following a series of discussions that are still ongoing, Save Tall Ship Tenacious are developing a plan designed to set out a sustainable future for the ship and are actively looking for supporters, including an alternative operator, to help raise awareness and funding for the project.

It is hoped that with enough support, the future of one of world’s most accessible Tall Ships will be secured for many more years to come.

The ‘Save Tall Ship Tenacious’ organisation are operating in a separate capacity to Jubilee Sailing Trust (Tenacious) Limited and The Jubilee Sailing Trust in their efforts to secure the future of the Tall Ship Tenacious. Sail Training International has no direct involvement in the group.
