Fleet arrivals herald start of celebrations
The quaysides have been a hive of activity today as the port prepares for the arrival of the fleet. All vessels (except for Smialy (Poland), who has had to take a detour to fix some damage to her rigging andKruzenshtern (Russia), who will be arriving on Saturday) will be in port by noon tomorrow. Only once they are all in and race declaration forms have been submitted to the Race Committee can the results be finalised.
A second Class A ship, Mir (Russia) – pictured – arrived in Gdynia this evening, as well as Fujimo (USA) and Lady B (Poland). Other vessels are expected as follows:
