Final Class A ship arrives in Anwerp

July 10, 2010

The final Class A Tall Ship to arrive in Antwerp, Tenacious (UK), slowly, carefully and very gracefully made her way through the locks into the inner harbour watched by hundreds of onlookers.

Tenacious is a 54m barque owned by Jubilee Sailing Trust and sister ship to Lord Nelson (UK) a regular Tall Ships Race competitor.  Both ships are adapted to carry physically disabled voyage crew as well as able bodied, with modifications including a speaking compass to enable blind crew to steer the ship and wheelchair lifts between the decks.

Tenacious has travelled to Antwerp from Lavrion in Greece after competing in both the Hisorical Seas Tall Ships Regatta and the Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta.
