Challenge for Urania and Maybe
After receiving a challenge for an unofficial race from Aalborg to Risor from Urania (Netherlands), Maybe (UK) accepted the challenge and set off on the course, which took in four waypoints and started just north of the river from Aalborg, and finishing outside the harbour at Rasor. Maybe arrived first and are awaiting Urania‘s arrival to establish the winner (once handicaps have been taken into account).
Following the usual race format, positions were communicated from one to the other twice daily and for most of the route they remained in sight of each other. Fortunately the pair found strong winds gusting up to 30 knots which was good for Maybe, a Bermudan Ketch built in 1929, and much heavier than Urania, also a Bermudan Ketch built in 2004 and owned by the Royal Netherlands Navy.
This evening Wylde Swan (Netherlands), Maybe and Urania will all be in Risor, and joined tomorrow evening by Christian Radich (Denmark), Eendracht (Netherlands) and Tenacious (UK).
