SUMMARY OF THE EVENT
The Welcome Reception will be held on Thursday 21st November at 19:30 hrs – 21:00 hrs at the Aquarium Finisterre, Paseo (en) Alcalde Francisco Vázquez 34. 15002 A Coruña.
This event will include drinks and canapes as well as a welcome from STI and our hosts for the evening, the Mayor of A Coruna along with the host ports of the Tall Ships Races 2025.
Our city hosts are kindly providing buses to transport delegates from the Hotel Attica 21 to the Aquarium and back. Please meet in the hotel lobby ready for buses at 19.00hrs. Buses will return to the hotel at 21.00hrs.
The Conference itself will take place on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November at the ExpoCoruna, Rúa Juana Capdevielle, 2, 15008 A Coruña.

This is a 13 minute easy walk from the two recommended hotels (Hotel Attica 21 and the AC Hotel A Coruña by Marriott)
The registration and exhibition/refreshment area will be found on the ground floor of ExpoCoruna and will be known as The Hub. Conference rooms are all on the first floor.
There will be coffee in The Hub from 08:00 hrs on Friday with the opening plenary session starting at 09.00 hrs.
On Saturday arrival coffee will start at 09.00 hrs with the first session starting at 10.00 and the last finishing at 16:00 hrs.
The Gala Dinner on Saturday evening, kindly hosted by the City of A Coruna, will be held at Hotel Attica 21 and will incorporate the Annual Sail Training Awards. This is a ticketed event and included in your booking. If you are unable to join us for the Gala Dinner, please let us know.
- Arrival and welcome drinks from 19.00 hrs.
- Seated by 19:30 hrs.
- The evening ends at 01.00 hrs.
Dinner includes an allocation of wine, beer and soft drinks and there will be a cash bar also.
There will be free seating and the dress code is lounge suits. There will be a DJ and dancing after dinner, for those who still have the energy!

Thursday 21st November
Registration moves to the ExpoCoruna (from 08:00hrs) and then at the Welcome Reception at the Aquarium Finisterre (19.30-21:00 hrs) (please do not arrive early to the Aquarium as we do not have access until 19.30 hrs).
Also taking place at ExpoCoruna on Thursday are :
- Youth Council meeting (08.30 hrs to 17.00 hrs)
- Ships Council Meeting (12:30 hrs arrival coffee, 13:00 hrs meeting until 16:00 hrs)
Those attending pre-conference meetings on Wednesday or Thursday will receive additional instructions (please note all ship operators are welcome to attend the Ships Council meeting but pre-registration is essential. Conference Programme

Filming sessions
It is intended that most conference sessions will be filmed and a photographer will also be capturing photographs during the event. If you do not wish your image to appear in any published photographs or videos, please contact us in advance.
Friday Fun Night for the Under 30’s

There is free wifi for delegates around the conference centre. The password will be provided when you arrive.

Ad-hoc Meetings and Networking
All ‘opted-In’ delegates will soon receive an attendee email ‘networking’ list prior to arrival in order that contact can be made to arrange meetings. Please note this will not be the final delegate list – if you did not ‘opt-in’ on your registration form then your details will not appear in this mailing. We appreciate the importance of networking at this event. The seating area in The Hub can be used for ad-hoc meetings outside of lunchtimes. If you need a more private space, please enquire at the registration desk for availability.

Useful information for visitors to A Coruna
Banks
Most banks are open from Monday through Friday from 8.30 to 14.30. There are also 24-hour ATMs available throughout the city, most of which (Servired, 4B, etc.) provide international service.
Currency
The currency unit is the EURO (€).
Credit cards
In most places you can pay cash, as well as with all major debit or credit cards (Visa, American Express, Diners Club and Euro card). You can withdraw cash in banks or at a wide spread network of ATMs. Foreign exchange traffic is not regulated.
Electricity
The electric plugs in Spain might be a bit different from those in your home country. You may need an adaptor of the type AC.220 volts. Plugs are continental 2-pin round.
Emergency services
The main emergency number is 112 – reserved for situations of danger or distress. Local police can be contacted by dialling 092.

Metric conversion
Spain uses the metric system. Visitors find weather temperature reports given in Celsius degrees, gasoline sold by the litre (milk and wine by centilitre and litres) grocery items in grams and kilograms, and road speeds posted in kilometres per hour.
No smoking regulations
The Tobacco Law forbids smoking in all public buildings, including bars and restaurants.
Shopping hours
Shops are usually open from Monday through Saturday, from 10.00 to 20.30. Some shops and shopping centres are open exceptionally on certain Sundays and public holidays throughout the year.
The city markets are open from Monday through Friday, except public holidays, from 8.30 to 15.00, approximately.
There are also numerous small neighbourhood supermarkets open 7 days a week.
Sunrise/Sunset
During the conference, sunrise will be around 08:33 hrs and sunset will be around 18:04 hrs.

Tipping
Tips are not mandatory. Most people give around 10% if they are happy with the service or food at a restaurant.
