Following a spectacular third event in the beautiful city of Cadiz, the international fleet of Tall and Small Ships set sail on the third and final race leg of the Tall Ships Races 2016 today (Sunday 31 July).
This final leg will take the vessels along the southern coast of the Iberian peninsula and includes a multi-port Cruise in Company, until they reach their final destination in A Coruna, Spain. The deadline for arrival in A Coruna is 12pm, Thursday 11 August.
The Cadiz Parade of Sail out of the port of Cadiz is set to attract thousands of onlookers who flocked to vantage points along the coast to see them. Cuauhtémoc (Mexico) will lead the fleet, followed by Christian Radich (Norway) and the remainder of the fleet, with Amerigo Vespucci (Italy) completing what will be a stunning procession, out of the Bay of Cadiz, before commencing to the start position of the final race leg.
Race Start
“The forecasted conditions look to present a nice race start for the fleet after what has been a spectacular weekend of festivities in the wonderful city of Cadiz. It has been, and always is, a true privilege to be able to join people of different cultures together in friendship through sail training, and the welcoming and inviting nature throughout the city of Cadiz has made the efforts a resounding success.”
Raul Mimbacas, Race Chairman, Sail Training International.
