Sports underway on the beach
The crew sports are taking place on Curonian Split, a short ferry ride across the Curonian Lagoon where the fleet are berthed. Curonian Split is a beautiful forested area with a lovely white sandy beach on the edge of the Baltic Sea.
Beach volleyball, five-a-side football, five-a-side rugby, arm wrestling and even chess are some of the sports available to the teams. Competition is fierce but fun and some teams can be seen limbering up on the sides of the pitches while others are chatting, dancing or cheering on their ship-mates.
Prizes in each game will be awarded during the crew party, later this evening. Before that the crew parade will be taking place, and some are already preparing their costumes and instruments ready for the traditional parade through the city, beginning at Lietuvinky Square at 19.00 hrs and finishing at Memel City.
