Race Ends – Vessels head for Ijmuiden
The North Sea Tall Ships Regatta came to an end today with the fleet now all heading towards IJmuiden in preparation for the Sail in for Sail Amsterdam on Thursday 19 August. While in IJmuiden the crews will enjoy a crew party and a festival atmosphere with grand firework display before they depart for Amsterdam.
A number of vessels have already arrived in IJmuiden, including Shabab Oman (Oman), Santa Maria Manuela (Portugal), Wylde Swan (Netherlands) and Pelican of London (UK).
Placings are still very much provisional until all ships are in IJmuiden and have handed in their declaration forms, but at the moment the leaders are:
In Class A, Stad Amsterdam (Netherlands) is in the lead with Eendracht (Netherlands) in second place and Oosterschelde (Netherlands) in third place.
In Class B, Tecla (Netherlands) is the winner.
In Class C, Rona II (UK) is in the lead with Riyal (Netherlands) in second and Black Diamond of Durham (UK) in third place.
In Class D, Lietuva (Lithuania) is in the lead with Urania (Netherlands) in second place and Endorfina (Poland) in third.
