Ready for the off
Captains from the 19 vessels signed up for Race 2 of the Historical Seas Tall Ships Regatta attended Captains’ Briefing at the Festival and Congress Centre in Varna this afternoon.
A summary of plans for tomorrow’s undocking, parade of sail, and start procedure was discussed in detail, together with a run-down from the met advisor on the sort of conditions crews will expect for the start of Race 2 at 1300 UTC/GMT (1600 local time) tomorrow.
The timings for tomorrow are as follows
The race, which starts off the coast of Varna, takes the fleet on a 140 nm course through the Black Sea to Istanbul with a finish line set off Karaburan Light, towards the mouth of the Bosphorus.
The current weather forecast for the start tomorrow shows changeable light winds once again, mainly from the south-west. However, there is a chance of a local sea breeze effect which could generate a decent breeze later in the afternoon
