Biography
PNS Rah Naward (which means “Swift Mover”) was built as a sail training ship for the UK’s Sail Training Association and named Prince William (a sister ship to the Stavros S Niarchos built at the same time for the same organisation). Both hulls had been built in Germany in 1996, but their completion as brigantines for use as luxury cruisers in the Caribbean was abandoned. They were acquired by the Sail Training Association in 1997 and completed as brigs in 2000. The Prince William was sold to the Pakistan Navy and is used as a sailing school ship. PNS Rah Naward is the Pakistan Navy’s first ever sail training tall ship.
