Time for the crews to party!
Last night the Captains enjoyed dinner onboard the Brazilian naval training ship, Cisne Branco and today, day two of the Regatta, its time for the trainees and crews to get competitive and then get partying! This morning they are taking part in a beach volleyball competition at nearby Club Natacio Barcelona and later they will be attending the prize giving ceremony and crew party – a great opportunity to let their hair down and meet other trainees from around the world. Prizes to be awarded include Most Impressive Arrival into Barcelona and Best Dressed Ship in Barcelona as well as several other categories and the sports award.
More sports competitions follow tomorrow (Monday) – this time rowing and basketball and then more training onboard their own vessels in readiness for their departure on Tuesday.
The quaysides are buzzing already this morning, with a local swimming competition taking place amongst the fleet and many visitors taking in the spectacular sights.

What is sail training?
Sail Training is an adventure activity, which includes far more than sailing instruction. Participants are required to confront demanding challenges, both physical and emotional. It is an activity that inspires self-confidence and personal responsibility. It promotes an acceptance of others, whatever their social or cultural backgrounds, and develops a willingness to take controlled risks. Those who undertake Sail Training on Tall Ships generally find it a positive life-changing experience.
