Shabab Oman trainees enjoying Arendal

July 27, 2010

Shabab Oman (Oman) sailed from Aalborg on completion of the Parade of Sail towards Arendal,

most of the time sailing except where they had head winds. It was a slow passage to Arendal, arriving on the 26th July however the crew have now had a couple of days to relax before sailing on to Kristiansand on 28th July (arriving 1400hrs).

The multi-national trainees are reported to be getting on very well with the crew and they are doing everything required of them with enthusiasm, living, eating and going ashore with the Omani trainees.  “They are really exchanging cultures and ideas and learning more about each other.  We think that the cruise in company is an excellent idea and if we had the chance to take more trainees from other ships we will do it with pleasure” said Faris AlBalushi, First Lieutenant on Shabab Oman.

Meanwhile in Risor, Polish vessels Zryw (pic) and Dar Szczecina have joined the party and are rafted up alongside the other ships that arrived this morning.   Trainees from Wylde Swan (Netherlands) have been rowing around the many beautiful islands and fjords whilst those from Tenacious (UK) have been taking in the sights of the pretty town.
