Sail Training International Introduces Live Tracking on The Tall Ships Races

July 26, 2010

Sail Training International is delighted to announce the introduction of a new system which will provide live tracking during their Tall Ships races and regattas. Incorporating a very user-friendly interface based on Google Earth, the Yellowbrick Adventure Tracker allows family, friends and supporters of the ships and trainees to follow their progress during the races with two-hourly updates.

The Yellowbrick Adventure Tracker is a well-proven, self-contained, fully-automatic satellite tracking device which accurately reports its position from anywhere on Earth. It is lightweight, waterproof and built to withstand extreme environments.

The Yellowbricks were fitted to the ships during their stay in Antwerp and have been relaying positions throughout the first race leg. These have been analysed and the race team and participating vessels are delighted with the results and its ease of working. There is no cost to the ships for this service and being self contained, they do not even draw from the ship’ power!

äóìWe are delighted to be working with Yellowbrick Adventure Tracker which has been providing satellite tracking systems for events since 2006,äó said Paul Bishop, Race Director for The Tall Ships Races 2010.

äóìThe system brings a new dimension to our races and will enable Sail Training International and the public to have a much faster and more interactive system to track the fleet. In the past Sail Training International has had to rely on radio communications with the fleet but as this new system is fully automated and uses accurate GPS positioningäó.
