Race Start Postponed at A Coruí±a
In view of the weather forecast the Race Committee for The Tall Ships Races 2012 has decided to postpone the race start planned at A Coruí±a today (19:00 local time, Monday 10 August), by 24 hours.
Chairman of the Tall Ships Races 2012, Christer Samuelsson said of the decision, äóìWhilst the fleet are equipped and designed to meet severe weather the Race Committee think it is a prudent decision to postpone.äó
The Race Committee will meet again at 17:00 (local time) today to review the weather and further communication will be made after this.
The Parade of Sail will go ahead as planned at 13:00 (local time). Following this some vessels will return to port and others will anchor at sea until the revised race start time.
The Tall Ships Races 2012, Presented by Szczecin and organised by Sail Training International is taking place in the following host ports:
St Malo – Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July (race start Monday 9 July)
Lisbon – Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 July
Cadiz – Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 July
A Coruí±a – Friday 10 to Monday 13 August
Dublin – Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 August
