Making Waves – The Prize Giving Stage Goes Wild in Harlingen

July 4, 2026

After a memorable first race, the fleet arrived safely in a blustery Harlingen, ready for several fantastic days of celebrating the crews, trainees and everything the city has to offer.

This morning (Saturday 4th July), crews enjoyed a huge selection of Dutch and Frisian sports, which consisted of 11 different activities including tug of war, horseshoe tossing, giant table football and horse ring riding.

The highlight for everyone was Tobbendensen!! This Dutch watersport game provided enormous amounts of fun for those who took part as well as the hundreds of spectators lining the canal. Crews sped down the ramp into the water and paddled as fast as they could to ring the suspended bell.

For the crew parade that followed, thousands of trainees took to the packed streets entertaining crowds filled with the wonderful community of Harlingen and beyond.

The prize-giving stage was the final destination. Crews eagerly awaited the announcement of race results and parade awards, which was accompanied with music, dancing and plenty of excitement. The stage quickly became the place to be as Harlingen celebrated in style.

The prizes were awarded by Sail Training International and the City of Harlingen and the winners were:
