Fleet Departs at the End of the Race Series

June 7, 2010

The Historical Seas Tall Ships Regatta came to an end today as the fleet departed from Lavrion. A brisk northerly wind meant that tugs were needed to get the ships away from the quay, but with the pilot in charge this all went smoothly and according to plan.

There was no formal parade of sail and instead the ships were requested to hoist their sails and hug the coastline as they made their passage westward. The northerly winds will help them as they make their way up to the next Sail Training International event, The Tall Ships Races, which start in Antwerp on 10 July.

From the Sail Training International race team of the Historical Seas Tall Ships Regatta, farewell and fair winds!
