Downwind Sailing set for the Final Finishers
Pictured: Lisbon – the next host port for The Tall Ships Races 2012
The weather forecast is good for the remaining vessels still racing, with fresh northerly winds finally setting in as expected at this time of year. The international fleet from 14 different nations, has a few days to enjoy cruising along the beautiful Portuguese coast before the deadline for arrivals at midday on Thursday, although many will arrive earlier as the event berthing area opens on Monday. The local organisers in Lisbon have been working hard over the past couple of years to ensure that the vessels will be well looked after this week and that there will be a full programme laid on for the two thousand crew members taking part. The most important day of the in-port programme will be Friday with the crew parade, prize giving and crew party.
