Klaipeda first hosted the Tall Ships Races in 2009, and has hosted a further three times since then, quickly becoming a regular fixture in the sail training calendar. We can’t wait to visit this vibrant port again as part of The Tall Ships Races 2024.
The Tall Ships Races in 2017 took part in Klaipėda at the same time as the Sea Festival – a unique combination of culture, nature and history. Throughout the four days of festivities, hundreds of thousands of visitors came to see the magnificent Tall Ships. The city is looking forward to welcoming the Tall Ships fleet again for the fifth time.
Klaipėda is the third-largest and oldest city in Lithuania, and celebrated its 765th anniversary in 2017. It’s situated on the Baltic Sea, is the country’s biggest port and is one of the only ice-free ports in northern Europe.
This vibrant city won the Council of Europe Prize in 2003 for it’s international co-operation and is seen as Lithuania’s symbolic gateway to the world.
