The Oman Bursary Scheme 2021 is open for applications!
Sail Training International is proud and privileged to announce that the Oman Bursary Scheme 2021 is open for applications, extending the scheme into its tenth year with over £70,000 in funding available.
The scheme is aimed at anyone between 15-25 years old who is financially or physically disadvantaged – regardless of sailing experience, physical ability or nationality.
The purpose of the bursary is to allow people who are normally unable to go on a voyage, or take part in a Tall Ships event, to be able to take part.
In 2012, we had the pleasure of launching a bursary scheme in partnership with the Sultanate of Oman following a successful trial in 2011. It aims to foster international friendship and provide new and exciting opportunities for young people each year and it does this by helping them to experience a sail training voyage on a Tall Ship during a Sail Training International Tall Ships Race or Regatta.
To ensure that we continue to encourage people from all over the world to have the opportunity to sail, the bursary is limited to those who haven’t taken part in a Race or Regatta before and each successful applicant will be awarded a maximum of £450.
