Jill is the captain of Geronimo, a sail training vessel based out of Newport, Rhode Island. With over sixteen years at sea, she has worked aboard a wide range of vessels, from modern sloops to full rigged ships. As a mate and captain, Jill has participated in the Tall Ships Races in Europe and North America.
She holds a 3,000 ton Ocean Master License, a Master’s degree in Marine Affairs, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations. Her graduate research examined the use of traditional sail training vessels as platforms for professional mariner training.
Jill is an advocate for high school and collegiate at sea programs, and the unique skills and experiences sail-training provides.
