Antwerp a hit with young trainees

July 11, 2010

Trainees have been talking of their delight to be here in the City of Antwerp.  Abbie Randall (17) and Michelle Stringer (19), both from Cornwall, UK, arrived here onboard Moosk (UK), a 13m gaff yaw operated by the Cremyll Trust.  Michelle (pictured right) had never been onboard a boat of any size before joining  Moosk, having applied to sail as part of a scheme to help unemployed and disadvantaged young people.  Such is her new-found love of sailing, she intends to go home and apply for courses to give her qualifications and more experience with an aim of becoming a professional sailor.

This is Abbie’s second voyage on Moosk and she will be sad to leave, but very happy to have met many new friends, all of whom intend to stay in touch when they go home.

Abbie and Michelle have been enjoying all that Antwerp has to offer, including the crew centre with its many entertainment opportunies and the sports events.  They are especially looking forward to the crew party this evening (Sunday).

Its not too late to get a berth on one of the ships in the fleet.  Potential trainees are encouraged to visit the ships or view their website and find out about the opportunites available to them.
