Dunkirk Withdraw from The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021

November 12, 2020

Tall Ships Races International Ltd, a subsidiary of Sail Training International, and the Host Ports of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021 announce the withdrawal of Dunkirk as a Host Port of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021.

It is with great sadness that we announce the withdrawal of Dunkirk as the start port for The Tall Ship Races Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021. Due to financial and economic reasons arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, the authorities in Dunkirk have made the decision to cancel all planned events in 2021, including the Tall Ships Races.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact around the world, and Sail Training International would like to thank the organising team in Dunkirk for all their invaluable work to date on the event.

Whilst we regret Dunkirk’s withdrawal, we would like to reassure ships and trainees that we are committed to ensuring the success of the event and the host ports are looking forward to welcoming the fleet of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021.

We are currently finalising the alternative start port arrangements we will put in place to replace Dunkirk and will announce this shortly. We can confirm there will be an exciting Race One into A Coruña as planned.
