Race report four: challenging race finish

September 2, 2014

The race from Falmouth to the Isle of Wight, as part of the Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014, officially finished at 1600 today (Tuesday 2 September).

The international fleet is now enjoying a Cruise in Company to Royal Greenwich for a spectacular London festival.

Mike Bowles, Race Director, Sail Training International said, “The official race finish at 1600 today gives the provisional results – detailed below.   The fleet is now making its way to London, with some stopping at ports along the south coast, including Brighton, in readiness for the arrival deadline of 12 noon, Friday 5 September.

“The last day of racing was difficult due to the light winds and made for some very challenging sailing to cross the finish line by the deadline.  This would have been an adventurous experience for the many trainees on board – many at sea for the first time in their lives.”

The final PROVISIONAL positions (by class) as of 1500 today (Tuesday 2 September) shows:

Class A

Dar Mlodziezy (Poland)

2 Stavros S Niarchos (UK)
