Race report three: rush of overnight finishers

September 2, 2014

Twelve vessels in the Falmouth-Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta have now finished the race to the Isle of Wight and have started their Cruise in Company to Greenwich.

Mike Bowles, Race Chairman, Sail Training International said, “Wind is decreasing and gradually turning towards the east making things more challenging for the remaining fleet. But several more ships are within a short distance of the finish line this morning (Tuesday 2 September) and will be making great efforts to finish before the wind changes.”

Royal Greenwich is now making their final preparations to receive the international fleet.  Denise Hyland Leader, Royal Borough of Greenwich said, “It’s a real thrill to welcome the tall ships here as part of this incredible event. It’s London’s first tall ships event in 25 years and it’s absolutely fitting that Royal Greenwich is playing host.”

The interim position (by class) report at 0500 today (Tuesday 2 September) shows:

Class A
