Race Two, Report Four
As of this morning’s report there has been little change in the weather, with the wind coming in from the east, making it a struggle for some of the ships to make progress, however there is still almost 48 hours until the final finish time.
The first ship has arrived in La Spezia this morning – Akela (Russia) – pictured crossing the start line in heavy seas – and two or three are close by.
The organisation in La Spezia is swinging into action and the extremely smart Liaison Officers from the Italian Navy are briefed and ready to receive the ships as they come in.
Currently the positions, on corrected time, are as follows:
Class A
1st La Grace (Czech Republic) – also 1st overall
2nd Royal Helena (Bulgaria) – also 2nd overall
3rd Mir (Russia) – 4th overall
Class B
1st Pandora (Italy)
2nd Far Barcelona (Spain)
3rd Cuitat Badalona (Spain)
Class C
1st Tartassos (Spain)
2nd Cybele (Spain)
3rd Galaxie (Spain)
Class D
1st Akela (Russia) – and 3rd overall
2nd Stella Polare (Italy)
3rd Miles to Go (Belgium)
There have been three retirements: Amerigo Vespucci (Italy), Johanna Lucretia (UK) and Adornarte (Romania)
