Open for entries: 2013 Sydney Auckland Tall Ships Regatta
The 2013 Sydney Auckland Tall Ships Regatta is launched – the first ever Tall Ships Race to be held in the region, run by Sail Training International.
The event forms part of a spectacular program of naval events which commemorates the centenary of the Royal Australian Navy’ fleet arrival in Sydney Harbour on 4 October 1913.

International Tall Ships which have already made a commitment, or registered their interest in taking part in this unique event, include Lord Nelson (UK), Europa (Netherlands), Tecla (Netherlands), Oosterschelde (Netherlands), Gloria (Colombia), Dewaruci (Indonesia), Libertad (Argentina) and the Spirit of New Zealand (New Zealand). Recent media launches in Sydney, Australia and Hobart,Australia saw high level support for the event, bringing together the Chief of Navy and Commander of the Australian Fleet; the Federal Minister for Defence; the New South Wales State Premier and the Lord Mayor of Sydney. Plus, patrons of the 2013 Tall Ship Events – Kay Cottee (1st woman to sail solo around the world) and Marcus Blackmore (prominent businessman); the Australian Sail Training Association President and Treasurer; Chief Executive of the Australia Wooden Board Festival and the State Premier of Tasmania. Similar events are due to follow next month in Melbourne, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand.
