Ships receive a warm welcome into Hartlepool
Hartlepool is giving a warm welcome to the fleet as the ships make their way into port. Some 35 are already in port, having arrived throughout the day and evening yesterday. From 11:30hrs today (Friday) a large number of Class A ships are due to arrive in the harbour, including Alexander von Humboldt, Pelican of London and Christian Radich, followed by Wylde Swan and Mir at approximately 12:00 noon. Stad Amsterdam is expected at 15:00 and the Omani naval cadet ship, Shabab Oman, complete with pipers and drummers, at 19:00hrs.
Provisional race results have been published but cannot be finalised until all ships are in port and have
handed in their declaration forms to be scrutinized by the race
committee. The fleet should be in port by 12:00 noon on Saturday, so
final results will then be published on Saturday afternoon.
