Second leg, race 1 evening update, Istanbul to Varna
The fleet is making slow progress as light winds continue to dominate the second leg of the first race to Varna, Bulgaria with reports of zero wind from 1300 and 1600 (UTC/GMT) this afternoon.
There is not too much change either with the weather forecast, issued at 1800 (UTC/GMT) for the West Black Sea area, showing west to north-west Force 2-4 for the next 24 hours.
However, the first vessel scheduled to finish this evening is Hansa., Spain (Class D) who at the 1600 hr communication schedule had 12 miles to go to the finish line. Next on the water with 51 miles to go is Akela, Russia (Class D), followed in close succession by Adonis, Greece (Class D), and Mythos, Greece (Class C), who have 67 and 69 miles respectively to go to the finish line.
On corrected times, Tenacious, UK leads Class A, with Mir, Russia in second, and Alex Von Humbolt, Germany third.
In Class B Tecla, Netherlands is ahead of Bodrum, Turkey, with Maybe, UK third. Mythos leads Class C with Christianna V, Greece, second and Mati, Croatia third in class. Akela leads Class D with Hansa. second and Adonis. third.
A once daily position report will be published on the website fleet tracking each morning as the fleet sails the second leg of the race to Varna.
