Support Our Mission

shaping a brighter future

shaping a brighter future

for young people around the world

Sail Training International is a global charity delivering life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged young people through sail training.

For over 60 years we have been dedicated to changing young lives through the transformative experience of a sail training voyage at sea.

Taking part in a sail training voyage helps young people grow in confidence, discover hidden strengths and develop the skills they need to succeed in their adult lives.

Through our world-famous events, The Tall Ships Races, and a range of bursaries we offer life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged young people worldwide, fostering confidence, resilience, and unlocking untapped potential.

Your support will help us to continue delivering these vital opportunities for teenagers and young adults around the world.

Every gift makes a difference, and a donation of just £150 can fund a young person for one night of a week-long sail training voyage.

“I’ve gained independence,
self-esteem, self-belief and I now know that I can do much more than I ever thought I could.”

“I have learned so much from my time at sea, met amazing people and gained memories I will never forget… and last but not least, I learned how to sail a ship!”

WHAT WE DO

For over 60 years we have been the international voice of sail training, delivering truly unique experiential learning opportunities for young people, helping them to develop key skills required to succeed in their home life and future careers.

Through our world-famous events, The Tall Ships Races, we have been able to deliver thousands of sail training opportunities for young people.

Since 1956 they have helped young people develop a range of key skills and enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience of challenge, adventure, and personal growth at sea.

Creating a lasting impact

Since the first race in 1956, The Tall Ships Races continue to change the lives of thousands of young people each year, the majority of whom have never sailed before. Every year they act as a beacon of International Friendship and understanding, welcoming trainees, crews and ships from around the world.

Over the last 60 years, they have made such a positive global impact promoting international friendship and understanding that Sail Training International was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.
