Biography
La Peregrina is one of the most mythical and well-known ocean-going boats in Spain thanks to thousands of ocean miles that it has sailed since its birth. Its bow has seen more than 44 Atlantic crossings.
La Peregrina is a 70-foot steel sailboat, rigged in ketch. It was built in 1984 by the Alianza shipyards in Argentina. Designed by German Frers to sail around the world. This designer is known for designing the renowned Hallberg Rassy, Nautor Swan and many more.
Our challenge is continuing the legacy of Javier Babe, legendary shipowner and captain of La Peregrina for more than 25 years, Julio Verne nautica acquires it in 2024 to give it a second life.
We are carrying out a complete refit that will end in March 2025
With the mission of:
On the one hand, to spread the legacy and example of the seaman that Javier Babe gave to all of us crew members who knew and sailed with him aboard the Peregrina.
On the other hand, to create an ocean navigation school that promotes and instructs a new generation of recreational ocean sailors.
