July 14, 2012

Pictured : Mir (stock image)

Mir (Class A, Russia) crossed the finish line at 21:48:36 last night (Friday 13) July in a hard fought battle all the way between her rival Dar Mlodziezy (Class A, Poland) which crossed the line closely behind at 22:22:22. She was followed by Ocean Spirit of Moray (Class C, UK) early this morning at 00:21:12.

The actual (elapsed) times that the first vessels took to sail the race course are a true reflection of the sailing speed achieved because of the start gate given allowing the vessels to start between a 12 hour gate on Tuesday:

1. Spaniel 03d 12hrs 30mins 04secs

2. Dar Mlodziezy 03d 15hrs 04mins 18secs

3. Tomidi 03d 15hrs 15mins 53secs

4. Mir 03d 15hrs 26mins 21secs

5. Lietuva 03d 17hrs 01mins 20secs

6. Ocean Spirit of Moray 03d 17hrs 56mins 29secs

The Corrected Time placings, which are calculated by multiplying the elapsed times by each vessel’ individual Time Correction Factor (TCF) which takes into account each vessel’ theoretical speed are:

Class A: Fryderyk Chopin, Dar Mlodziezy, , Mir

Class B:, Jolie Brise, Morning Star, Rupel

Class C: Dar Szczecina,  St Iv, Juan de Langara

Class D: Miles To Go, Urania, Akela
