Mariehamn, Åland Islands
Mariehamn is the capital city of the Åland Islands, located off the south west coast of Finland in the Baltic Sea. The city will be the fifth port of the Tall Ships Races 2024 and will welcome the fleet for a fantastic maritime event.
The city of Mariehamn will be the starting port for the third and final race of the Tall Ships Races 2024 with celebrations in the port taking place over four days from 24 – 27 July.
Mariehamn is home to a population of 11,500 and has ferry links to Turku, Helsinki, Stockholm, Kapellskar and Tallinn. The most significant landmark in the region is the four-masted steel barque Pommern, one of the best preserved historic vessels in the world.
Mariehamn was the start port for the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races 1988 and welcomed the fleet as a cruise-in-company port in the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races 2000.
