Nordkapp Trophy Joins The Tall Ships Races Award Line-Up

July 30, 2026
Sail Training International is delighted to introduce the Nordkapp Trophy to The Tall Ships Races overall series awards.

Nordkapp-Trophy

Created by the Captain and crew of Polish sail training vessel Dar Szczecina, this award is presented for the first time during the final Prize Giving Ceremony for The Tall Ships Races 2026 in Aalborg, Denmark.

The Nordkapp trophy is presented to the vessel that finishes 13th overall in the race series and it is designed to offer the opportunity to trainees participating in all manner of vessels, to win an award, by recognising a finishing position beyond the top three. The intention of this new award is to keep all participating crew and trainees engaged with the race standings throughout the series and it celebrates participation, teamwork, and determination.

The trophy is crafted from rock collected at Nordkapp (the North Cape), the iconic plateau in northern Norway. It joins the existing Cape Horn and Aberdeen Rock Trophies, continuing the tradition of awards with a geological connection.

Sail Training International is grateful to Dar Szczecina and her crew for coming up with this new and exciting trophy.

Keep an eye out on our updates tomorrow to find out the first winner of this new trophy! 👀
