November 3, 2025

Shabab Oman II Takes Home The Tall Ships Races 2025 Friendship Trophy

This year, The Tall Ships Races’ prestigious Friendship Trophy was once again awarded to Shabab Oman II, the Royal Navy of Oman’s flagship sail training vessel, in recognition of her crew’s outstanding efforts in welcoming participants and visitors alike and contributing to the fostering of international friendship and understanding.

Each year, during The Tall Ships Races, the captains of participating vessels are invited to vote for the ship which has made the greatest efforts and contribution towards the fostering of international friendship and understanding during the race series.

Magda Makowska; Race Director of The Tall Ships Races, comments “The crew of Shabab Oman II consistently demonstrate the true spirit of The Tall Ships Races; fostering friendship, cultural exchange and mutual respect among young people from around the world. The example they set, continues to inspire others, and reflects the very essence of what Sail Training International stands for”.

As part of its international voyage ‘Glories of the Seas 2025’, Shabab Oman II took part in all legs of The Tall Ships Races 2025 and throughout the race series demonstrated enthusiasm, excellent seamanship, warm hospitality, and a deep-rooted commitment to bringing people together.

As always, Sail Training International was delighted to have the ship take part in all race legs and visit the ports of Le Havre, Dunkirk, Aberdeen, Kristiansand and Esbjerg this summer.

The delighted winning crew was presented the Friendship Trophy in Esbjerg, Denmark, during the final prizegiving ceremony of the series.

Congratulations to Shabab Oman II and to her wonderful crew!
