Esbjerg Joins The Tall Ships Races 2025

Posted on: 04.05.23

The Tall Ships Races return to the North Sea in 2025 and we are delighted to announce that Esbjerg will be joining Le Havre, Dunkirk, Aberdeen and Kristiansand as the final Host Port of the event.

The Host Port of Esbjerg, Denmark, will welcome the fleet from 6-9 August, following four exhilarating race legs taking in France, the UK and Norway. As the final Host Port, it will provide the perfect backdrop for the customary magnificent celebrations that close each race series.

The Danish city of Esbjerg is a long-time friend of The Tall Ships Races, last welcoming the tall ships fleet in 2022 for the fifth time. The celebrations then were the perfect start to the series and we’re sure to enjoy another spectacular and memorable four days of festivities in 2025.

The Port of Esbjerg is the lifeblood of the Danish city and plays a key role in Esbjerg’s transformation into an environmentally sustainable city, driven by renewable energy. This environmental awareness, coupled with a strong belief in the positive impact of the sail training experience, makes Esbjerg a perfect partner for The Tall Ships Races 2025.

Sail Training International Commercial Director, Vanessa Mori, welcomed the announcement and continuation of Ebjerg’s long-standing relationship with the race series.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Esbjerg to The Tall Ships Races 2025. We have enjoyed a long-standing friendship with the Danish city since they first hosted the races in 1993. To be returning again for the sixth time over 30 years on is a testament to Esbjerg’s ability to deliver truly world class events that deliver for trainees, ships and visitors alike.

“We look forward to welcoming Esbjerg to what is already shaping up to be another historic edition of The Tall Ships Races alongside the Host Ports of Le Havre, Dunkirk, Aberdeen and Kristiansand.”

The Mayor of Esbjerg Municipality and current President of the World Energy Cities Partnership, Jesper Frost Rasmussen, also welcomed the news of Esbjerg joining the event.

“I am delighted to say that Esbjerg is eagerly looking forward to welcoming The Tall Ships Races for the sixth time. This event continues to be a highlight for our city, and although Esbjerg has become the Energy Metropolis of Denmark with an industry revolving around the energy sector, The Tall Ships Races is an opportunity to showcase Esbjerg’s rich maritime heritage.

“The Tall Ships Races provides us with an opportunity to strengthen existing ties and form new ones, as we all work towards hosting this remarkable event.”

The Tall Ships Races 2025 will take place from 4 July-9 August and will offer a range of sailing experiences for trainees and crews. The Race Committee will use different waypoint options to provide shorter and longer races for the fleet that will require a mixture of tactical skill and exhilarating speed to conquer.

The Tall Ships Races always provide the perfect opportunity to take part in some great sailing and embark on the adventure of a lifetime at sea. They bring together people of different nationalities, religions and cultures and visit a range of international ports, promoting international friendship and understanding.
